The Grant Writing Workshop: The National Science Foundation (NSF) - FACULTY is broken down into two 1-hour sessions: Intellectual Merit and Broader Impacts. Both workshops will be held on Zoom to help researchers develop competitive proposals for the NSF.

The workshop will cover the grant writing process from framing research ideas appropriate for NSF, outlining and drafting the core proposal elements, and addressing intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria. Participants will share and receive feedback on their project ideas, research questions, and broader impacts activities from both peers and experienced grant writers.

These Grant Writing Consultations are 60-minute discussions and are open for researchers and investigators. This open forum structure allows for participants to ask brief questions about any aspect of preparing NSF proposals.

Researchers can bring their draft proposal outline/research questions for feedback, ask questions about the grant writing or review process, or share and learn tips to make proposals more competitive.  An expert in grant writing will facilitate the discussion.

This asynchronous class is meant to support you in preparing an NSF CAREER proposal. The main goal is to equip you with information that will make your project as competitive for funding as possible. Whether the upcoming CAREER deadline is your first or third CAREER submission, we want you to succeed. To that end, we have compiled the best of our knowledge and experience with the CAREER program into this class.

Please note that the RED 910 | National Science Foundation (NSF) Basics is a prerequisite for this CAREER class. In this class we will not be covering the basic structure, programs, and topics funded by NSF, and we assume that you already understand NSF's Intellectual Merit and Broader Impacts review criteria. If you have not taken the Foundations course (an asynchronous Canvas course you can complete at any time), please take it now and return to this CAREER class when you have finished.
