Clinical Research Budget Development, Negotiation and Oversight

Participants will learn the practical details of developing clinical research study budgets. Distinctions between cost and price; internal and contractual budgets; fixed and variable costs; start-up, maintenance, and close-out activities; and direct and indirect fees will be described. Methods for negotiating full study support from sponsors will be explained. Techniques for managing budgeted funds, and the conditions under which sponsors should be contacted for budget changes, will be discussed.
