About the Consultation

The Broader Impacts (BI) criterion used by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and other agencies is an increasingly important component for successful proposals. Our team of researchers and science communicators has extensive experience in suggesting innovative BI activities that have helped UU Principal Investigators (PIs) write more competitive proposals in diverse disciplines and from a range of NSF programs, including GRFPs, CAREER grants, research proposals, training programs, and Centers. The 30-minute consultation sessions guide individual PIs and/ or labs to design, implement, and evaluate BI activities for your upcoming proposals. BI consultations are open to all faculty, students, and staff at the University of Utah. The consultations are led by the University of Utah’s STEM Ambassador Program team and supported by Research Education (REd) and the Interdisciplinary Exchange for Utah Science (NEXUS).
