This is a REd Asynchronous (online/self-paced) class.

This foundational course will help you learn key features of EndNote to create and manage your citations and references. This class will guide you through setting up and configuring your EndNote library, adding citations from various sources, and effectively using Cite-While-You-Write plugins to create in-text citations and bibliographies in your word processor. Whether you’re new to citation management or looking to enhance your skills, this class covers everything from library setup to troubleshooting common issues, ensuring you have a solid grasp of EndNote’s core functionalities.

Learning objectives

  1. Students will be able to set up an EndNote Desktop library and configure their library settings to effectively use and back up the library as needed.
  2. Students will learn how to add citations to their libraries manually, via multiple databases, and through EndNote's online search feature.
  3. Students will be able to troubleshoot basic challenges with EndNote Desktop.
  4. Students will be able to use the Cite-While-You-Write plugins for word processors and will develop a basic understanding of how they function.

REd Asynchronous classes feature lessons and exercises designed to build competency and increase efficiency. Modules are accessible 24/7 and are all self-paced. All members of the University research community are invited to complete any online classes of interest.
