This is a REd Synchronous (live) class.

Researchers often encounter challenges in the process of making a determination to report incidental findings in research. What is the obligation of investigators to disclose a finding of potential health or reproductive importance discovered during research but beyond the stated aims of the study?

Participants will review the ethical, social and regulatory issues involved with incidental findings, emphasizing perspectives on genetic research. Relevant HIPPA regulations and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) will be assessed.

The genetic findings disclosure process preferred by the University will be explained and how to outline a study-specific plan for IRB submission will be discussed.

REd Synchronous classes are taught by subject matter experts and provide both fundamental and advanced skills training in flipped classroom format. To register for upcoming trainings, click here to view our calendar.
