This is a REd Best Practice Network (live) class.
Class Description: We will discuss challenges and offer solutions to the barriers to recruiting and retaining research participants. We will discuss strategies and share tools for developing appropriate research materials with a focus on health literacy and an emphasis on building trust and respect with community members. Resources that are available through the Office of Research Participant Advocacy will also be provided.
This Best Practice Network is part of a 3-class series. Although, it is not required to take all the classes within the series. Classes included in this series are as follows:
- RED 661 | Enhance Equal Opportunity for Study Participants with the use of Research Trained Interpreters
- RED 662 | Enhance Equal Opportunity in Research by Using Translated Documents and Recruitment Materials
REd Best Practice Networks are 1 hour in length with a 15-minute presentation and a 45-minute discussion that are led by subject matter experts. They will be developed based on (1) requests from participants and (2) needs from units on campus. Participants are expected to come prepared with any questions that they may have and to engage in a conversation with the facilitator and their peers.
