Designed for University of Utah faculty, staff, post-docs, and graduate students
The Research Mentoring Certificate aims to enhance effective research mentoring across the University of Utah by providing mentors and mentees with classes and resources that strengthen mentoring skills for faculty, staff, post-docs, and graduate students. The classes explore common challenges in mentor–mentee relationships and encourage collaborative problem-solving.
The topics addressed in the program align with core mentor training competencies grounded in academic research (e.g., Pfund et al., 2013) and are refined based on participant feedback and facilitator expertise. By expanding mentoring capacity, the certificate supports high-quality research relationships across the University.
