Certificate programs and research education courses are available from the Office of Research Education to individuals outside the University of Utah community. Visit the Academy of Research Education website to learn more.

RED Classes FAQ

 

  1. Go to the Research Education website homepage.

  2. On the red menu bar, there are several ways to search for classes:

    • Certificates: View certificate program details, instructions, and required classes
    • Class Catalog: Browse the full REd curriculum, organized by category

  3. Select the class you would like to enroll in. This will take you to the Catalog listing for that class. 

  4. Once in Catalog, select “Login” in the top right corner.

    If you are University of Utah Employee or Student, sign in to Catalog with your uNID and password.
    If you are not affiliated with University of Utah, please visit the
    Academy of Research Educationfor available classes.

  5. Once logged in, select the course listing.

  6. Select “Enroll Now”.

  7. Once you are enrolled, you will be able to access the class through your Canvas Catalog dashboard or your Canvas dashboard.

    2. Go to Research Education Canvas Catalog and click on "Student Dashboard" under your name.

    3. To access your class through the Canvas dashboard
      Go to https://cis.utah.edu/  
      Click on "Canvas Login" under either Employee or Student Portal



      Click on the class you enrolled in


If you can no longer attend a live class or would no longer like to be enrolled in an online class, please follow below steps to drop the class from your Student Dashboard on Catalog.

After you enter the Research Education Canvas Catalog, please follow below steps to drop the class:

  1. Login at the top right corner of the page.

  2. Login by using your uNID and password, then you should see your Canvas Catalog dashboard. If not, you can click on your name on the top right of the page and select Student Dashboard.

  3. Find the class that you want to drop, click on the gear icon (Tool) and select Drop Course.
